EastEnders stalwart unmasked as professional actor who has been fooling the public for more than 30 years

You might want to sit down for this. Apparently, Ian Beale does not exist.

Someone has been pretending to be him since 1985 - a professional actor called Adam Woodyatt.

This bombshell throws into doubt the entire validity of the highly regarded and long running EastEnders documentary.

His duplicity has only been revealed following an Ocelot investigation sparked by the uncanny likeness of Adam Woodyatt to Albert Square resident Ian Beale who is appearing at the Wyvern Theatre’s pantomime - Peter Pan.

Adam will use his remarkable duplicitous skills to take on the identity of Captain Hook, Neverland’s meanest man, from Saturday 2 December 2017.

In the guise of Ian Beale, Adam has fooled industry insiders by scooping five British Soap Awards (including one for Best Actor) and been awarded Soap Personality of the Year by the Television and Radio Industries Club. And there are growing calls for him to give the awards back to their rightful owner Ian Beale.

Adam also regularly guests on TV game and panel shows and has hosted programmes such as Value For Money, Dreamhouse and National Lottery Live.

Recently unmasked Adam Woodyatt said: “I’m thrilled to be back at the Wyvern this Christmas and can’t wait to get my hook into pantomime once again. Swindon audiences are fantastic, always up for a great show and having a great time, and I can’t wait to hear them boo and hiss my Captain Hook.”

Wyvern Theatre Director Derek Aldridge said: “Adam is quite simply one of the most famous faces on TV and I am delighted to welcome him back to the Wyvern stage to play one of pantomime’s iconic roles.  I can promise that this year’s production will be truly spectacular and will be the perfect Christmas treat.”

Adam Woodyatt will star in Peter Pan at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon from Saturday 2 to Sun 31 December 2017. Book tickets today for the high-flying pantomime adventure at swindontheatres.co.uk or by calling the Ticket Office on 01793 524 481.
