Shoebox Theatre offers aspiring young actors a chance to meet Billie Piper

The Shoebox Theatre is offering local actors, aged 16-25, the opportunity to have a chat and cup of tea with award-winning actress, Billie Piper.

The Shoebox will be hosting two free sessions during May, which will give young and emerging performers the chance to ask Billie about her experience, and what it’s like working as an actor in film, television and theatre. There are only 30 places available, which will be allocated on a first come first served basis to eligible applicants.

Billie Piper, who has most recently won the Olivier Award for Best Actress for her role in Yerma at the Young Vic, officially became the Patron of the Shoebox earlier this year.

She said: “Venues like the Shoebox are really wonderful and important. When I was growing up in Swindon I came through the traditional drama training routes, which are great, but the Shoebox Theatre offers alternative ways of developing skills and gaining experience, which is really really exciting.”

Managed by Wrong Shoes Theatre Company, the Shoebox Theatre is a 50-seat studio space located in the centre of Swindon. It supports new and contemporary theatre and provides training opportunities.

Luke Marquez, Artistic Director of the Shoebox said “Having the support and guidance from Billie, who is at the forefront of British contemporary theatre, film and television right now, is invaluable to the Shoebox and the young actors that live in Swindon.”
