White Horse Opera host Spring concert in memory of Devizes music teacher Michael Oliver

White Horse Opera will be hosting a special Spring Concert at Devizes Town Hall on Friday March 31 in memory of Devizes music teacher and tennis lover Michael Oliver who died aged 76 in December.

Mr Oliver of Avon Road, was director of Devizes Junior Eisteddfod for 25 years. He also set up and ran the Devizes Primary Schools Music Summer School for 30 years and was musical director of Devizes Light Operatic Society for 15 years.

In 2011 he retired from teaching the string orchestra at Wiltshire College in Devizes after 50 years.

A donation will be made from the proceeds to a charity close to Michael’s heart.

There will be a preview of White Horse Opera’s October production Iolanthe by Gilbert & Sullivan as well as lots of other beautiful music so do come along enjoy the evening while remembering one of Devizes’ special musicians.
