US Ska veterans The Toasters play Swindon's Level III

US ska band The Toasters are making an appearance at Swindon’s 350 capacity venue, Level III, on November 4 during the band’s autumn UK tour.

Famed as one of the earliest Two-tone bands in the US, this will be the first time the group have ventured into Swindon to play.

Founded in New York in 1981, The Toasters formed part of the second wave of US ska, a strain of the sound that fused elements of progressive politics and punk attitude, that overtook the UK and US during the late seventies and early eighties. Notable for their mix of pop, reggae, rap, R&B and calypso

The Toasters experienced a degree of commercial success in the late 1990s due to the popularity of third wave ska in North America – which expanded on the genre’s growing synthesis with punk rock. Their song “Two-Tone Army” is also the theme song for the Nickelodeon show KaBlam!, a comedy series that aired between 1996 and 2000.

The group will be performing alongside Cardiff ska/reggae/soul group Captain Accident and The Disasters.

Tickets are £5 online and from the Rolleston Arms and £7 on the night. Tickets will be available at the door. Doors open at 8pm.
