Best known for their hits such as ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love’, UB40 announce they are to perform at Doncaster Racecourse on Friday 30 June 2023 - celebrating 45 years of the band.
With over 100 million albums sold worldwide, 50 UK Top 40 singles and 10 UK Top 10 albums, UB40 are considered to be the most decorated and successful reggae group of all time.
A spokesperson for the band said: “Formed in Birmingham in 1978, UB40 proudly wear their working-class roots on their sleeves, championing causes and concerns in songs that tackle political and social issues head on.
“Capturing the hearts, minds, and dancing feet of disaffected British youth, their loyal audience has grown and evolved with them over the past 45 years, gathering new and younger fans along the way, thanks to the power and importance of music that continues to resonate today.”
The unmissable racecourse show will see UB40 perform some of their most-loved classic hits and fan favourites like “Kingston Town”, “Red Red Wine”, “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You”, “Food For Thought”, just to name a few, along with new material from the upcoming ‘UB45’ album due out later this year.
UB40 founder member, Robin Campbell said: “So much has happened over the last 45 years. We pinch ourselves every day that we are still able to get out on the road to perform for our fans. Though the industry is still feeling the aftershocks of covid we feel incredibly fortunate that we can continue our live shows and tour globally as we do.
“People can expect a phenomenal show and party as always! Matt Doyle, our lead singer since 2021 has fitted in seamlessly, bringing a new fire to our music, and we think our performance is the best it’s ever been!
