Twice BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Musician releases show date in aid of Mary Hare charity

Twice BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Musician of the Year, Martin Simpson, performs at Arlington Arts Centre on October 21.

Martin Simpson’s current tour is following the release of his twentieth solo album in 40 years Trails & Tribulations on September 1 via Topic Records.

The brand-new studio album, his first new solo work since 2013’s widely praised ‘Vagrant Stanzas’, will be available in standard and deluxe CD, digital download and standard vinyl (the latter through Vinyl 180).

The remarkable intimate solo performances Martin gives go from strength to strength, travelling the length and breadth of the UK and beyond, giving audiences passion and unmatched quality with his guitar playing.

He has had the most nominations of any performer in the 18 years of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, an astonishing 31 times, 12 of those as Musician of the Year, winning that particular accolade twice.

40 years after he recorded his first album, Golden Vanity, in 1976, Martin is known as a guitarist of formidable talent. Equally at home playing English traditional folk, American folk and blues and his own compositions, he is consistently named as one of the very finest fingerstyle guitar players in the world.

He is listed in Gibson Guitars’ Top 30 Acoustic Guitarists of all time, and Acoustic Guitar readers voted him number 12 guitarist in the world in 2005.

Tickets are available for £14 online at www.arlingtonarts.co.uk , or by calling the Box Office at 01635 244246.

All profits from Arlington Arts Centre go directly to Mary Hare, a school and national charity supporting deaf children.
