We anticipate over ten thousand people will come and explore some amazing discoveries over the Festival’s six days: 16 – 21 June 2017. There are events all over the Oxford for everyone from touching clouds and building stars, to dancing the Universe or watching a contagious cabaret. There are talks, stalls, exhibitions, performances and a weekend of free hands-on activities for all ages.
Meaty topics discussed at this year’s Festival include sex, food and the future of our planet. The evolution debate will be untangled from science fiction with events asking “is it right to synthesise human genomes?” or “should brain scans be used at airports or in classrooms?”
We invite everyone to explore everything from solar plasmas to pleasure and insect’s knees to the history and fate of humanity. Speakers include, Tom Kerridge and Susan Jebb, Harry Parker, Barbara Sahakian and Nicholas Crane. There’s a panel of leading Science Fiction writers and you may even know one of Oxfordshire’s youngest poets, as pupils across the county are crafting new verses for the Science Festival Poetry Competition.
