The Neeld to bring Nicholas Parsons to Chippenham

The Neeld Community and Arts Centre will be bringing legendary TV and radio presenter Nicholas Parsons to Chippenham on Thursday February 1.

The charismatic entertainer is well known as the chairman of BBC Radio 4’s Just a Minute, which he has presented for 25 years, and has enjoyed a career in entertainment spanning eight decades.

After spending his early acting career in London’s West End theatres, the 1970s brought Nicholas onto the television screens, appearing in many Benny Hill shows and then hosting and compering Sale of the Century for 14 years.

As well as his outstanding on screen career, Parsons has also worked on theatre productions such as the Rocky Horror Show and Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods, before releasing his autobiography The Straight Man - My Life in Comedy in 1994.

In this evening full of humour, comedy and acutely observed characterisations, he will demonstrate his unique ability as a solo performer and raconteur in this anecdotal show based on his experience of life and working in the various areas of the media.

Leader of the Council, Sandie Webb, said of the event: “Nicholas Parsons is one of a kind. He is a superb example of a talented entertainer who has lived through an era where the show always goes on. The Neeld is privileged to welcome him to Chippenham for what will be a memorable evening.”

Tickets are available now from www.neeld.co.uk, by phone on 01249 446699, or in person from the Chippenham Town Council foyer.
