That cheeky acoustic chappy Beans on Toast is on his way to Reading and Bath this month

Following the recent release of his 8th Studio album ‘A Spanner in The Works’, Beans on Toast has announced a week-long tour across England and Wales as part of this year’s Independent Venue Week.

Mr Toast will be dropping into The Nest in Bath on January 28 and the Rising Sun Arts Centre in Reading on January 29 to wrap up the last two dates of the tour.

In commemoration of IVW 2017, each night of the tour Beans will be joined by a host of great local acts. In addition, each show will cost no more than a tenner to help you support your local independent venue.

A matter very close to Beans’ heart, those familiar with ‘A Spanner in The Works’ will already have heard “The Drum Kit”, a new track that is all about the closing of UK venues and is sure to feature in the shows this January.

Expressing his passion for local venues and giving an insight into what to expect at the dates, Beans on Toast’s official interview with Independent Venue Week can be read here.

Independent Venue Week started in 2014 as a 7 day celebration of small music venue around the UK and a nod to the people that own, run and work in them week-in, week-out.

Highlighting the need for grass roots independent venues, many of which are closing down at an alarming rate, Independent Venue Week is supported using public funding from the Arts Council England and brings together these venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and taste-makers to create a nationwide series of gigs at the end of January every year.

Ambassadors in the past have included Colin Greenwood of Radiohead, Frank Turner and Wolf Alice.

These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans somewhere to get up close to artists that one day may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages.

The backbone of the live music scene in this country, Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past, so they can continue to do the same in the future.
