Swindon based Prime Theatre celebrates World Theatre for Children Day

On Monday 20 March, Prime Theatre will celebrate World Theatre Day for Children. 120 Year 5 pupils from Drove Primary School and Swindon Academy will all enjoy an Arts Adventure at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre.

On a day that celebrates the creative power of performance, each pupil will have the chance to take part in a range of drama, dance, rap and film workshops. Artsmad, Swindon’s Cultural Education Partnership, will provide professional artists from Prime Theatre, Swindon Dance, Create Studios and Swindon Libraries to lead an exciting mix of activities.

Marnie Forbes Eldridge, Prime’s Associate Director, said, “All across the world (today) children and young people are celebrating the right of children to have access to space for play, performance, theatre and expression. We wanted to offer even more opportunities for every child at our event to feel creative and confident.”

Helen Swanson, Drove’s Principal said, “The arts increase confidence and communication, so its shame that they are given less space in today’s busy education system.  We’re grateful to Prime on this special day that our children will be able express their diversity and learn at the same time.”
