Salisbury Playhouse is presenting a Relaxed Performance of this year’s pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, on Thursday 4 January at 2.30pm for people who might not otherwise be able to enjoy theatre.

A relaxed performance ensures there are no loud noises or flashing lights. House lights remain partially lit throughout the performance with doors to the auditorium open and audience members are free to come and go if they wish. The cast will introduce themselves at the start of the performance and special effects such as a smoke machine will also be demonstrated.

This is an opportunity to enjoy a Christmas pantomime in a genuinely relaxed atmosphere.

With its less formal atmosphere this relaxed performance is especially suitable for those with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, learning disability or elderly people living with dementia.

Join Jack on a magical adventure up the beanstalk. From the writer and director of Salisbury Playhouse’s hit productions of Aladdin and Cinderella comes another fun-filled pantomime for all the family.

Tim Croall, Salisbury Playhouse head of communications and sales, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year and everyone should be able to enjoy a trip to the theatre so we’re delighted to be presenting a relaxed performance of this year’s pantomime. We work hard to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all.”
