Oxford Castle Unlocked are offering a dead romantic alternative for Valentine's Day

Oxford Castle Unlocked are offering up some rather unconventional, but equally amazing, Valentine’s Day events.

Oxford’s historic castle prison is hosting a duo of Valentine’s events for guests to celebrate the most romantic time of the year. Couples can choose from a romantic Shakespearean scavenger hunt or book their very own prison cell for a delicious three course meal with a difference.

Valentine’s Day Lock In, Saturday 17 February, 6pm to 7.30pm

Get locked in with your loved one this Valentine’s Day as Oxford Castle Unlocked offers couples an evening to remember! Enjoy a delicious three course meal served in the intimate and unique surroundings of your very own prison cell from just £90 per couple, with a bottle of wine included. One lucky couple can savour the experience in the atmospheric candlelit crypt for £115 with a bottle of Prosecco included in the price! Why not try something a bit different this year?

Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt, Saturday 17 February, 6pm to 7.30pm

Couples looking for an unusual start to their Valentine’s ‘date night’ are invited to explore Oxford Castle Unlocked on a romantic Scavenger Hunt. The experience begins with a welcome drink of Prosecco or wine and a group guided tour of St. George’s Tower. After absorbing the tower’s scenic 360 view of Oxford, each couple will embark on their search to find Shakespearean love quotes hidden around the historic building. On completion of the scavenger hunt, they will then be able to exchange their findings for a celebratory drink in the castle’s atmospheric crypt. Tickets are £50 per couple. Chris Abbott, General Manager of Oxford Castle Unlocked, commented: “In recent years, the castle has become a really popular destination on Valentine’s Day as our events offer an alternative to the regular dinner out or trip to the cinema. We look forward to welcoming couples into the castle for this year’s very special Valentines events.” Oxford Castle Unlocked is located on the former site of HMP Oxford but has stood as a Castle for 1000 years. The attraction offers regular 40-minute guided tours which explain the origins of Oxford and the role the Castle played in the city’s rich history. Visitors explore the Saxon stone-built St. George’s Tower, the atmospheric crypt, the preserved prison wing and the archaic man-made mound offering breath-taking views of Oxford.
