Getting Whimsy at the Shoebox Theatre in Swindon

The Shoebox Theatre in Swindon have announced that the Scram Collective will be previewing their first play ‘Whimsy’ at the Shoebox before it’s London debut later in the year.

One of the main aims of the Shoebox is to support new theatre companies and writers and make it possible to present their work to audiences in Swindon.

Written by Alex Newport, ‘Whimsy’ is a surreal piece that combines quick dialogue with intense physicality to explore themes of corruption, abuse and generational complacency.

Day after day, Aoife lives out her boring old regular life, accompanied by four bodies who wish they could do something about that. After a bizarre experience with a hideous masked creature, Aoife finds that she has the strange power to do anything she wants. She no longer has to work, pay bills, or do as she’s told, instead the world simply bends to her wishes.
