Richard Ede, whose stage credits include Horrible Histories, is returning to Salisbury Playhouse as Dame Trott after playing Widow Twanky in Aladdin last year. Sam Harrison, who has appeared in the national tour of Phantom of the Opera, plays Jack Trott.
Steve Serlin (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory directed by Sam Mendes) plays Nightshade and Katie Shearman (Sleeping Beauty, Hackney Empire) plays Princess Jill while Jemma Geanaus (Spamalot, The English Theatre Frankfurt) plays Fortuna.
Completing the cast are JJ Henry (Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, The Roses Theatre) as King Crackpot and Laura Crowhurst (George’s Marvellous Medicine, Stephen Joseph Theatre) as Pat the Cow. Andrew Ahern and Liberty Buckland form the ensemble.
Director Ryan McBryde and writer Andrew Pollard return following their hits Aladdin and Cinderella in the last two years. Pollard also plays Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days which is on at Salisbury Playhouse in October.
The creative team is completed by assistant director Dave Orme, designer James Button who also designed Worst Wedding Ever and Little Shop of Horrors, alongside choreographer Nicky Griffiths. Christopher Peake is musical director, Nic Farmen is lighting designer and Jon Roache is sound designer.
