Bob Dylan to take UK tour to Oxford this autumn

Bob Dylan will be bringing his ‘The Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour’ to Oxford’s New Theatre this November.

After 74 stellar performances in the US, The Rough and Rowdy Ways World Tour will be heading to Europe and the UK.

The tour will open in Europe this autumn with shows in Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and the UK.

Bob Dylan will play a date at Oxford’s New Theatre on 4 November.

Tickets for the Oxford show go on general sale on 5 September at 10am. They can be purchased at https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/bob-dylan-rough-and-rowdy-ways-world-tour-2022/new-theatre-oxford/

A spokesperson said of the artist: “Bob Dylan’s music has spoken to generation after generation for over 60 years. His unique sound has a permanent place in societal, cultural and musical heritage, you hear that harmonica and instantly know that it is him.

“His stellar career has seen him sell over 125,000,000 records,  win a Nobel Prize for literature, 10 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award, before an induction into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame as well as a place in TIME’s list of the most influential people of the century.”

The Rough and Rowdy Way’s Tour is said to celebrate Dylan’s 39th studio album of the same name, released in 2020. It includes instant classics Murder Most Foul, I Contain Multitudes and False Prophet.

The artist’s spokesperson continued: “An icon of his genre and a master of his craft, Bob Dylan has been a major part of popular culture throughout his career with a discography that includes Like a Rolling Stone, The Times They Are A-Changing and Knocking on Heavens Door, alongside countless others.

“Genius is a word used too lightly but, in this case, it is one that could easily be seen as an understatement.”

Staff at the New Theatre are reminding members of the public that this concert will be a “Phone Free Show.” This means that phones will not allowed in the hall during the concert.

Once attendees arrive at the venue, Yondr (the phone pouch company engaged on this concert) will have its dedicated staff available to help them put their phone in a locked and secure pouch, which they will keep with them throughout the evening.

If there is an emergency and the individual will need access to their phone, they can unlock the phone pocket at any time by going to a dedicated and signposted area, intended for phone use. Audience members can ask a Yondr staff member to help them with this.

Having created this phone-free experience on recent tours, staff believe the phone-free environment creates better times for everyone in attendance. The phone-free rules are non-negotiable deal (although medical exemptions will be made for those who rely on their phone for treatment).
