Hey everybody, it’s Tyler here I am doing a deep dive into the career of American singer-songwriter Katy Perry
Katy was born as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25 1984 in Santa Barbabra, California to Mary and Maurice Hudson.
In 1999 when Katy was 15 she began pursuing a music career and recording demos got her noticed by Red Hill Records who then signed her a deal.
March 6 2001 Katy released her Debut album Katy Hudson which consisted of Christian Rock and Contemporary Christian Music the album sadly did not chart but managed to sell 200 copies.
But in a few years Katy woukd go on to become an international pop star which saw Katy sign up to Capitol Records in 2007 and began work on her second album.
She adopted the name Katy Perry as a tribute to her mothers maiden name.
17th June 2008 Katy released her second album One Of The Boys which saw her transistion into pop music. Four single released to promote including I KIssed a Girl, Waking Up In Vegas and Hot and Cold.
One Of The Boys peaked at number 11 in the UK album chart and went two times platinum.
2009 Katy released her EP/Live album MTV Unplugged which was recorded in the July of the same year.
In August 2010 Katy released her third album Teenage Dream which promoted six singles such as California Girls, Teenage Dream, Firework and Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F). Katy scored five Number one singles to top the US Billbaord Hot 100.
Teenage Dream Peaked at Number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and earnt her a five times platinum disc.
Katy voiced Smurfette in the 2011 Smurfs Movie she reprised the role for Smurfs 2 in 2013.
March 2012 Teenage Dream was re released as Teenage Dream The Complete Confection which saw two singles released Part Of Me and Wide Awake the re release peaked at number 6 in the UK. in the same year Katy starred in the documentry Katy Perry A Part of Me.
17 October 2013 saw the release of her fourth album Prism five singles were released to promote the album including the iconic hit Roar, Dark Horse, Unconditionally and Birthday.
Prism gave Katy her second UK number one album and going Platinum.
June 2017 Katy released her fith album Witness this saw five singles released including Chained To The Rhythm, Bon Appetit and Swish Swish.
Witness peaked in the UK Album Chart at Number 6 earning her a silver disc.
2018 saw Katy become a judge on American Idol which she has been doing for five years and she has recentley revealed she is leaving the show to concentrate on music.
Throughout 2019 and 2020 Katy released four standalone singles Never really over, Harleys in Hawail, Small Talk and Never Worn White.
August 28 2020 Katy released her sixth album Smile which had three single releases including the four standalone tracks The three tracks form smile were Daisies, Smile and Not the End of the world.
Smile peaked at number 5 in the UK Album charts i have to say this my favourite album from her discography.
Two days before releasing Smile Katy gave birth to her daughter Daisy Dove Bloom in which she revealed the pregnancy in the Never Worn White music video.
Katy and her partner the actor Orlando Bloom are soon voicing characters in a Peppa pig wedding episode as Ms Leopard and Mr Raccoon as part of the 20th Anniversary.
I have been a fan of Katy since her debut single as her music has always made me feel positive and seeing how much passion she has for music and the different sounds of her albums.
