Towersey Festival basks in another year of fantastic headliners, and huge success!

Running for four days over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the 53rd Towersey Festival was marked by sell-out crowds, superb performances and exceptionally sunny weather.

Based at Thame Showground in Oxfordshire, highlights included appearances from headliners KT Tunstall, Newton Faulkner, Show Of Hands, and Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band.

Other memorable performances included an afternoon tribute to Paul Simon’s seminal Graceland album by The Gary Stewart Band, visiting US trio The Sweet Water Warblers, and a late night stint from Tetsworth’s TV comedian Rob Deering.

While away from the music stages, the new ‘Towersey Tales’ storytelling tent, the ‘All About Children’ programme, and traditional final night Lantern Procession proved popular with festival-goers.

In the region of 9,000 revellers flocked to the festival, enjoying the record-breaking Bank Holiday sunshine.

Towersey Festival Director Joe Heap said: “We’ve been extremely lucky with the weather this year, and we’re delighted that so many people enjoyed the festival - choosing to spend the end of their summer holidays with us.

“The atmosphere has been brilliant and we’ve seen some incredible performances.

“All our venues have been packed, especially the Festival Dance House (FDH) where we’ve hosted wall-to-wall ceilidhs and even a roller-disco.”

The 54th Towersey Festival will run from 24 August to 27 August 2018.

Limited Early Bird tickets are now available priced £109, and the full line-up will be announced in the New Year.
