Tony Christie brings his Up Close UK tour to Oxford

Oh Tony we’re not in Reno anymore…

A born showman and one of the all-time classic performers, Tony Christie has notched up over 50 years in music and it’s easy to see why. A living legend and national treasure, he brings his unmissable live show to O2 Academy Oxford June 7 as part of a national tour.

Tony has sung thousands of songs during his incredible career and has amassed over forty albums, seventy singles and countless live performances. He has scored Top Twenty hits worldwide with ‘Las Vegas’, ‘I Did What I Did For Maria’, ‘Avenues And Alleyways’, ‘Walk Like A Panther’ and ‘Every Word She Said’.

In 2005 he won a whole new generation of fans with the re-release of his international 1971 hit, ‘(Is This The Way To) Amarillo’, which was given a new lease of life by comedy genius Peter Kay in the series Phoenix Nights as well as being used as the official Comic Relief single and taking the Number 1 spot.

A singer who always delivers his best, Tony is renowned as being one of the loveliest people in the business – he is the very epitome of his voice.

Tony has worked with an incredible line-up of songwriters including Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, Kylie), Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Sia, Tina Turner), Paddy Byrne (Paloma Faith, Olly Murs) and Don Mescall (Boyzone, The Corrs) on his new album, set for release later this year. Song after song of new ‘classics in waiting’ from some of the best Grammy Award winning writers in the business coupled with Tony’s incredible voice. Despite a huge and respected career, Tony Christie is only just getting started!

His upcoming live shows will feature tracks from his back catalogue and as always the show is beautifully conceived and movingly delivered.
