Acclaimed Oxford folk-pop band The People Versus return to Swindon tomorrow - Friday, 11 November.
They will be closing out their autumn national tour with a special show upstairs at The Hop Inn on Devizes Road.
The People Versus last played in the town at the Swindon Folk & Blues Festival at Christ Church in September.
Fans and reviewers say that since forming in 2019, The People Versus have gone from strength to strength, with an exciting catalogue of self-penned songs which are haunting folk fairytales powered by sheer pop euphoria, and which borrow from a variety of genres and traditions.
Their combined voices and instrumental lines swoop, circle and support the beguiling voice and personality of lead singer Alice Edwards. Each song is taut with utmost feeling and longing, and many are inspired by Greek myth and tales from Shakespeare.
Following early support from BBC South Today Live News and BBC Introducing, placements at international film festivals and a spot as Richer Sounds’ artist of the week, this year has kept the band on a steady course.
There have been premieres from Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 6) and John Kennedy (Radio X). No strangers to the live circuit following tours across Denmark with Northern Assembly and Sold Out headline shows at Oxford O2 and St Pancras Old Church London, the band have also made their mark on the festival circuit, packing out tent performances at Truck Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival.
A band built on their genre-straddling appeal, The People Versus are once again showcasing their unique sound and infectious songwriting.
