This weekend is the UK premiere of a both harrowing and eye-opening documentary, Kangaroo.
Taking a look at what is considered to be Australia’s ‘national icon’, the documentary uncovers the brutal reality of kangaroo massacres across the country, how they are hunted, murdered, and exported for consumer consumption.
Kangaroo explores to split divide at perceiving these animals as either pests to be eradicated, or national treasures to protected. The trailer lends explicit previews into what to expect from the feature length film which, as Variety Review says, “recalls films such as The Cove and Blackfish.”
The New York Times added: “The filmmakers are determined to sound a wake-up siren, and they blast it here with extra strength” in what is proving to be a harrowing but necessary watch for audiences across the globe.
