REVIEW: Tango Moderno at New Theatre, Oxford

Tango Moderno, starring Flavia Cacae and Vincent Simone (holders of numerous professional dance titles and known to millions as performers on Strictly Come Dancing) mixes traditional tangos, other Latin American and ballroom dances with a more modern take on dance (street dance, disco etc). These were backed up by a supporting cast of superb dancers, musicians and singer Rebecca Lisweski performing both solo and with Tom Parsons. When not singing, Rebecca was also a dancer with the troupe – multi-talented indeed. Her rendition of ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ while Flavia and Vincent were dancing a beautiful passionate piece was stunning. A perfect way to end the show. This is a ‘must see’ for tango and dance lovers. The only disappointment for me was the short duration of the show – starting at 7.30pm and finishing at 9.15pm.
