Nasser Bouzida aka The Bongolian to perform in Newbury

Local talent, Nasser Bouzida aka The Bongolian performs at Arlington Arts on Saturday November 3.

Defying categorisation but drawing on influences of Funk, Latin, Soul and Jazz, Bongolian Nasser Bouzida blends elements of grinding percussion and heavy bongo rhythms in his own inimitable style.

His fifth album, ‘Moog Maximus’ takes us through the fractures of time like fellow traveller H. G. Wells. Nasser has now landed in ancient Rome, or is it on a set of Westworld? All we know is our hero is armed with a bank of vintage synthesizers and a legion of heavy grooves in this wildly eclectic fusion of Funk, Soul, B-Boy Breaks, Jazz and Sci-Fi Boogaloo.

Radio support for Moog Maximus includes Gideon Coe, Cerys Matthews, Nemone & Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music, featuring twice on the station’s ’ Recommends Day’. Gary Crowley (XFM, 6 Music, Amazing) is also a big fan.
