Applications are now open for the Madam Renards Mini Fringe 2016, Swindon’s only fringe performing arts festival!

Matt Fox, co-director of Madam Renards said, “The Mini Fringe is now in its fourth year and has gone from strength to strength. From an event which featured 3 local companies in 2013; we host performances from local, national and international companies.

The Mini Fringe 2016 will run between the 1st and 10th April in venues including Steam, The Phoenix Theatre, Swindon Dance, The Vic, Riffs, The Swindon Museum & Art Gallery and Swindon’s primary theatre The Wyvern. Ticketing will be run by the Wyvern Theatre.

We want companies producing all kinds of performing arts to get in touch and take part in the fringe. Whether its comedy, drama, opera, musical theatre, dance, visual art, immersive theatre or indeed anything else, we’d love to hear from individuals and companies who want to be involved.”

2015’s Mini Fringe featured plays, dance, musicals, operas, new writing, stand-up comedy & one person shows from companies as far afield as Serbia and Sardinia - variety and creativity being at the centre of what the festival is all about.

“The Mini Fringe actually provided the first outing for my play ‘To Sleep’ which has since toured the UK, played in the West End and been published” said Matt. “Fringe festivals are designed to give a platform for new performances, and this platform can often lead to bigger and better opportunities for those showcasing their work”.

“This year’s fringe is a very special one as it falls in the year of the Swindon175 celebrations that run for the whole of 2016 and celebrate the 175th anniversary of the opening of the Swindon Railway works. We’re working alongside Steam for this celebration and will be very interested in any shows which have a links to Swindon or its history.
