Family-friendly Dog Show event to be held as part of Oxford Canal Festival

The Oxford Canal Festival team announce their Dog Show is back by popular demand.

The Dog Show will take place on the Festival date on 17 September.

The most look-a-like dog and owner, most gracious golden oldie, the waggiest tail pup, or best biscuit catcher are amongst the categories for the show. 

A spokesperson for the event said: “Make no bones about it, it isn’t just humans who enjoy the canal. Dogs are also part of towpath life – and now they have the chance to take centre stage, where the Dog Show promises to be one of the highlights of the Festival. “

Organisers say it’s not only the best-looking dogs which need apply. Canine C-listers are invited to strut their scruff in various different categories, including a best in show category. No experience is necessary for entrants, and the judges will be on the lookout for personality as well as looks and obedience. 

The dog-friendly Festival takes place alongside the Oxford Canal Festival’s other events including live music, storytelling, talks, walks, and an evening concert on Sunday 9 September – all with a Canalside theme. 

The festival’s previous dog shows are said to have been hugely popular with dog-lovers of all ages, so anyone who wants to enter their dog for the chance of a winning a special rosette is advised to enter in good time.
