Don't miss Billy Branch and Giles Robson this week!

Billy Branch is bringing his tour to The Bullingdon in Oxford for one night only Wednesday September 16.

A true contemporary and relevant harmonica master, but also one of the last living links to the major artists of the Golden age of Chicago Blues, Billy was discovered by Willie Dixon, the “father of modern Chicago Blues,” while Billy was still in college.

Willie encouraged Billy to finish his college education, which he did, but instead of going to law school after receiving his political science degree, Billy began touring with the Willie Dixon Chicago All-Stars.

Billy had the unique opportunity to travel and work as an under study for the legendary Carey Bell who was planning to leave the All-Stars and form his own band. When Carey took his leave, the young Billy Branch took his place, touring with Willie Dixon for 6 years.

In addition, he has received three Grammy nominations (losing one nomination to BB King and Eric Clapton).

Billy Branch has become the ambassador of the Chicago Blues. During his 6 week tour of Turkey, he represented the USA in Turkey’s Parliament, teaching political party leaders to play harmonica! Thousands of fans showed up every night of the week to experience the authentic Chicago Blues!

Next up is Giles Robson And his Band. Giles has been building up a head of steam as one of the leading international blues harpists of his generation.

Giles and the band first met met and played together as part of the Harp Explosion package tour also featuring harp legends Magic Dick and James Harman.

Paul Jones said: “They have absolutely got what it ought to sound like behind those harmonica players.”

The band have gone on to play packed to capacity shows in London, Skegness and Amsterdam.
