Brews & Eats

Wiltshire brewery Arkell’s has teamed up with brewers from across the UK to brew a special beer to help everyone enjoy Great Get Togethers with family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and local community.

The initiative is in support of the Jo Cox Foundation, the MP for Batley and Spen who was murdered last year. The beer is a result of a mass collaboration between brewers large and small to brew a beer to mark the Great Get Together, a series of community events planned across the country to mark the anniversary of the death of MP Jo Cox. The Great Get together is about bringing people and communities together to remind us that we have more in common than divides us. So far over 18,000 group have registered to Get Together over the weekend of 16-18 June. Arkell’s joins Adnams, Cliff Quay, Elgoods, Fullers, Harviestoun, Joseph Holts, Joules, J W Lees, Marstons, Palmers, St Austell, Theakstons, Thornbridge and Woodfordes, and The Good Beer co. The brewers have been aided in this brew by friends at Charles Faram, Colourscan, Darleys labels, OI glass and Simpsons malt. Get Together Beer is a pale ale brewed with UK grown barley and hops and a blend of yeast from some of the finest brewers in Britain. Arkell’s Head Brewer, Alex Arkell, said: “This is a wonderful initiative in support of a hugely important campaign to get people together and we are absolutely delighted to be a part of it.” In Jo Cox’s first speech to Parliament she said: “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.” Profits from the sale of the beer will go to the Jo Cox Foundation.
