Audiences invited to take part in promenade performance to remember WW1

People are being invited to take part in a specially created promenade from the Guildhall Square as part of Wiltshire Creative’s Lift Off! weekend of free arts activity from August 24 to 27.

Wiltshire Creative has commissioned a participatory promenade performance from Tangled Feet Theatre to commemorate the end of World War I on Sunday 26 August and Monday 27 August as part of its Lift Off weekend.

Inspired by the centenary of the mass demobilisation from WWI and the tales of modern-day veterans, Boots on the Ground is a promenade headphone show which invites audiences to exchange their shoes for a pair of army boots and follow the intertwining stories of men who are stepping back from war.

Can they find peace on their return to civilian life? Setting out from an Army tent in Guildhall Square, the audience form a unit, are given their marching orders and embark on a 45-minute walk together around Salisbury.

The walk covers a distance of approx. 1.2 miles, but is walked in short bursts with several stops.

Boots on the Ground will begin from the Guildhall Square on Sunday 26 August and Monday August 27 at 11am, 1pm and 4pm.

You can book a free place in advance at Salisbury Playhouse Ticket Office or at www.wiltshirecreative.co.uk. A limited number of tickets will be available on the day. The walk is recommended for ages 14+ and the route is suitable for wheelchair users.

The Ticket Office can be reached on 01722 320333 or by visiting www.wiltshirecreative.co.uk
