Aspiring actors and directors can now sign up to Shoebox Theatre's range of courses

Swindon’s Shoebox Theatre has a range of new classes available as part of its actor training programme starting in September.

MONDAYS:

Acting for ages 14-16

These classes are for young people who are interested in acting. With a focus on contemporary theatre practice, students will be introduced to a range of drama techniques and theatrical forms including physical theatre, comedy, devising, improvisation and working with text.

Acting for ages 16-18

These classes are for dedicated students who are passionate about working in theatre and are perhaps considering going to drama school. Students will develop a further insight into established methods and techniques, leading to an in-class rehearsed and directed performance at the end of each course - these classes are both practical and challenging.

 

TUESDAYS:

Level 2 - Acting courses for ages 18+

These classes are for actors aged 18+ are aimed at those who have had previous theatre training - you might be on a year out before drama school or perhaps you want to continue your training with us as an adult or are ready to move up from our beginners’ courses. You will develop further insight into established methods and techniques, through practice, critical reflection and in-class performances - these workshops are both practical and challenging.

THURSDAYS:

Level 1 - Acting for beginners 18+

It’s never too late to tread the boards! Beginners’ Acting Courses for Adults offer an introduction to acting in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Ideal for those with little or no acting experience, classes provide the chance to explore acting technique in a playful, accessible and practical way.

One to one tuition

Led by ACTING SOUTHWEST. The 1-2-1 tuition packages range from complete beginners through to those who need help preparing for drama school or general auditions, including support and guidance on monologue selection and audition technique.

 

Masterclass: Approaches to Theatre Directing

In this one-day workshop led by Aaron Parsons, you will gain a practical insight into Theatre Directing. Including working with text, starting with script analysis, as well as rehearsal techniques, guiding actors and staging a scene.

This masterclass is suitable for everyone, from the beginner just starting out, to the more experienced director looking to reinvigorate their practice.
