Amélie stars enjoy a cuppa Oxford style

It wasn’t exactly like visiting Café des Deux Moulins, but the cast of Amélie The Musical took some time out from their busy show schedule to relax and soak up the sights of Oxford city centre this week.

Strictly Come Dancing favourite and television actor Danny Mac and leading lady Audrey Brisson settled down at Paul, in High Street, and tucked in to some of the delicious treats on offer at the café during a break from the show, which is at the New Theatre Oxford until Saturday (June 22).

In the musical, which is an adaptation of the much-loved 2001 award-winning film of the same name, Audrey plays Amélie Poulain and Danny plays sweet daydreamer Nino Quincampoix.

Amélie is the story of an astonishing young woman who lives quietly in the world, but loudly in her mind. She secretly improvises small, but extraordinary acts of kindness that bring happiness to those around her. But when a chance at love comes her way, Amélie realises that to find her own contentment she’ll have to risk everything and say what’s in her heart. Although times are hard for dreamers, Amélie is someone to believe in…

Audrey said audiences are in for a treat. She said: “It is a beautiful mix of fun, music and joy. It has it all. You have never seen anything like this show.”
