Wiltshire Wildlife Trust cancels Sarsen Trail and Neolithic Marathon for 2017 due to Army exercises

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust regrets to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances they have had to cancel the 2017 Sarsen Trail and Neolithic Marathon on 30 April.

In order to hold this huge event Wiltshire Wildlife Trust need to apply to the army for a license to use Salisbury Plain. This process was started in November 2016 as usual and the organisers had hoped to receive the license in February/March. Unfortunately it was at this point that they were told the army needed the Plain and the events finish line for an exercise. Derek Gard the event organiser at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust said: “We are extremely disappointed to cancel our biggest annual fundraiser but of course the needs of the army must come first. We have worked really hard with the army to find a different date and/or location but it just wasn’t feasible.” All those that have already booked their places on the event will be contacted by the Trust about a refund of their entry fee.
