Wildlife film festival to visit Swindon this autumn

Wilderland - the UK’s first touring wildlife film festival - will be visiting Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre this autumn.

Wilderland prides itself upon sharing with audiences, the best natual history films from world-class filmmakers across the globe.

Selected from over a hundred entries, Wilderland is now back for its third year touring the 2022 Official Selection showcase.

The Swindon festival date is Monday 17 October. The films will start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £20 with concessions getting £2.50 off. Bookings can be done at https://swindontheatres.co.uk/Online/tickets-wilderland-film-festival-swindon-2022.

A spokesperson for the event said: “These ground-breaking independent films will offer audiences unparalleled insight into some of the world’s most incredible stories from our natural world. A must-see for lovers of wildlife, film, travel, conservation, and adventure.”

The film festival will also be hosted by wildlife television presenter, filmmaker, and field biologist Dan O’Neill.

After working internationally as an expedition researcher and video journalist, he joined the BBC’s Natural History Unit, presenting for BBC Earth.

Dan has been presenting for BBC Earth since 2019, and last year he starred in a four part docu-series for BBC Earth Digital. Additionally ‘Snow Leopards: Ghosts in the Snow’ documented Dan’s journey to Kyrgyzstan to search for the famously shy snow leopard.

In early 2022, Dan co-presented ‘After We’ve Gone’, a four part docu-series which looked at the way in which nature recovers after humans leave. His next series, ‘Dan O’Neill Investigates’ will be released later this year and he his currently filming a new six-part series for Curiosity Stream.

As well as presenting, Dan has produced and presented various documentaries, high-profile fashion features, musical collaborations and digital campaigns engaging new audiences in conversations around exploration, conservation and climate change.
