Tumbling down the rabbit hole to celebrate Alice's Day in Oxford

Alice’s Day 2018

Tumble down the rabbit hole as Oxford transforms itself once again for Alice’s Day. This year’s theme is Journeys and Adventures!

Date and time: Saturday 7 July, 2018 Event link: http://www.storymuseum.org.uk/whats-on/alices-day-2018/

Live street theatre, jaw dropping circus performances and a whole host of colourful characters taking over Oxford. It can only mean one thing – Alice’s Day is back for 2018! The Story Museum is delighted to present a frabjous day of activity in celebration of Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s novel Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.

Visitors to Oxford are invited to dress up as their favourite Alice In Wonderland character, march with a troop of confused playing cards, take part in Alice’s scavenger hunt, enjoy the extravaganza of Circus Raj’s acrobats and illusionists and join the mysterious Voyage of La Sibylle…

Venues across Oxford will be involved in the festival including The Story Museum, Christ Church, Ashmolean Museum, Blackwell’s Book Shop, Bodleian Libraries, Museum of History of Science, University of Oxford Botanic Garden, Alice’s Shop and Oxford Castle. All this, as well as facepainting, crafting, puzzles, and games, means you’re sure to find an adventure suitable for all the family!

Alice’s Day is coordinated by The Story Museum, and this year’s festival marks the last day of opening for the museum as it embarks on an exciting phase of redevelopment. The Story Museum plans to reopen its doors in 2020, but in the meantime they will be offering a taste of what’s to come at their site on Pembroke Street, as well as touring their travelling pop-up story tent The Pumpkin, which will be appearing across Oxfordshire in the coming year.

About The Story Museum

The Story Museum is a registered charity with a vision to enrich lives, particularly young lives, through story. We do this by providing great ways of engaging with great stories here in our Museum in the centre of Oxford and through our work in schools and the community. The Museum opened to the public in 2014 after a first stage of capital works and is currently raising funds for ‘Chapter 2’ to continue the development of its site and to bring the whole building into use.
