Trio of show stopping acts to get your teeth into

Watch out for the three new show-stopping acts at this September’s Gappy Tooth event held at The Wheatsheaf in Oxford on Saturday September 30.

The night kicks off at 8.20pm and costs £4.50 on the door.

The first musician on our list is Mike Barham the punky, acoustic, and very tall indeed, as well as being the best thing to come out of Devizes since Andy Scott from The Sweet and a whole load of lock gates.  Vocally diverse, from grating bluesy overdrive to ridiculous falsetto sparkle, Mike’s music draws influence from artists including City and Colour, Frank Turner, Corey Taylor, Jamie Lenman and beyond. Probably a sprinkling of Dave Grohl in there, just to be sure. Renowned for wit and charm behind a microphone, a laconic lyrical eye and, as aforementioned, being really really tall.

 Shotgun Six

A psychedelic grunge rock trio with an ear for a melody and slight stoner aroma hanging in the musical air.  Yes, alright, that doesn’t make any sense, but the band does feature Chris Monger who has been in about 60 squillion great local rock acts.  If you like a slow hazy build, a hypnotic fuzz snig-a-long and a sky-seeking rock Exocet of a climax, then this is the band for you: check out the near ten minute groove workouts on their self-titled release.

 No Dice Grandma

Witney rockers who are back after a long hiatus due to rock’n’roll procreation.  Ahem.  A little bit of math, a little bit of post-, and a whole lot of noise informs their angular, abrasive rock.   Think Shellac, Yourcodenameis:Milo, Deftones, ForwardRussia, At The Drive In, Alpha Male Tea Party, Oceansize, Adebisi Shank, And So I watch You From Afar, Kong; think, “Gosh, this is good, I’m glad I came to this gig”.
