Pegasus and Oxfordshire Music Education Partnership (OMEP) present a selection of solo artists and bands from around the county in two showcases of original talent, Reins on Saturday 23 January and 16 April.

The young musicians will be performing live on the Pegasus stage supported by a team of professional technicians in one of the first gigs of their burgeoning careers.

Pegasus joined the Oxfordshire Music Education Partnership in 2011 in creating this opportunity for young artists in Oxfordshire. Since then, there have been seven showcase events involving more than thirty bands and soloists. This year there will be two events: one in January and one in April. Each will be supported by professional music leaders and technicians, who will be on hand to advise the performers and manage the gig.

January’s event will feature performers from Oxfordshire County Music Service, Readipop, The Oxford Academy, BG Records, the Young Women’s Music Project and Oxfordshire Youth Arts Partnership.

The programme is co-ordinated by Nick Wright, Oxfordshire County Music Service’s Music Development Leader. Nick said “Reins is a fantastic opportunity for bands to play in a professional theatre setting at an important early stage in their musical careers. Over the past four years the shows have allowed many young musicians to gain experience, learn from each other and grow in stature as performers and artists”
