Swindon's Old Town Festival announce charity for 2017

The Old Town Festival committee are proud to once more support the GWH Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Appeal.

The festival gave Swindon people the opportunity to nominate a charity and the committee took a secret ballot at their recent meeting and Brighter Futures came out on top.

The Old Town Festival runs from Saturday 8th – Sunday 16th July.

Josie Williams, Festival Chair and Community Arts Development Officer at Commonweal School, said: “We are delighted to be once again supporting this local charity that will be so welcome to a great many people in Swindon.”

The GWH Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Appeal have to date raised £1, 468,921 which means they are now half way there to the £2.9 million target. Preparations in the car park are well underway with the building hopefully being started in the Summer.

Chloe Thomas, Fundraising Manger for Brighter Future, said: “We are delighted that Old Town Festival Swindon have chosen the Radiotherapy Appeal as their charity of the year for the second time!  The Radiotherapy Centre will mean patients from Swindon and the surrounding areas will be able to receive vital treatment without having to travel over 70 miles a day to the nearest centre in Oxford.  With the support of local communities like Old Town Festival, we will reach our £2.9 million target sooner.”
