Swindon public asked to submit writing for anthology collection

Literature project Artswords is asking members of Swindon and its surrounding areas to submit their work for publication in a community anthology.

In late 2019, Artswords, a Literature Development project run in partnership with Swindon Libraries Service and the Swindon Festival of Literature, put out a call for short pieces of writing from people in Swindon and the surrounding area.

The work was put together to form an anthology, titled Swindon Writing.

Writers in Swindon rose to the challenge and the Artswords team said submissions poured in.

By December 2020, the first edition of Swindon Writing was published.

Following the success of the anthology, Artswords once again wishes to celebrate writing talent in Swindon. The group are now seeking submissions for the second issue of Swindon Writing.

Literature Development Worker, Matt Holland said: “Whether you are a powerful poet, a novice novelist, a promising playwright, a confident composer, or a bashful beginner, Swindon Writing welcomes your work. Any piece of writing or illustration will be considered for publication.

“Each author may submit one or two pieces of no more than 1,000 words in each.  Shorter pieces are encouraged. The quality of submissions is more important than their length.”

Artswords welcomes submissions from anyone living in or near Swindon or with a significant connection to the town.

Full submission information and guidelines are available from swindonwritingproject@outlook.com or artswordsinfo@gmail.com
