Summer sizzlers are coming your way at Trowbridge Festival

With each passing day Trowbridge Festival is putting more and more into making sure that this years festival is going to be a scorcher! The line-up this year is no exception - July 20 to July 22.

Here’s what’s in store for festival-goers this year:

Beans on Toast

He’s a hippy, a punk, a poet, a drunk, a die-hard romantic and an eternal optimist. Singing simple songs that tackle significant issues. Political protest songs for the modern day, honest and open Love songs. Songs that will make you laugh, but also make you think with no holds barred honest lyrics and quick wit.

The Beans on Toast live show is an odd and unpredictable experience. A singer, storyteller and guitar player his self-deprecating quality is not something you often see, but it breaks down the barrier between musician and audience, creating a sense of equality.

Joe Smith

Other than the name, there is nothing commonplace about John Smith. John has played to audiences all over the world, in living rooms, festival tents and sold-out concert halls, with a powerful singing voice that critics have compared to the likes of John Martyn and Ray Lamontagne.

Mojo said: “You’re smiling even as tears catch in your throat.”

Phil Cooper and the Slight Band

Phil is a contemporary singer/songwriter who has earned excellent reviews from the national press. With his thought-provoking songwriting and energetic live performances drawing comparisons to Neil Finn, Glenn Tilbrook and Ben Folds.

During his live shows, he makes a real connection with the crowd. Whether it’s handing out dozens of egg shakers, or passing around his “doodle book” for the audience to draw in. Every now and then you’ll catch him unplugging his guitar and shunning the stage to stand right in among the captivated audience.

Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker

Whether interpreting words centuries old or singing her own authentic lyrics, Josienne’s jewel-like voice finds the nuance in the simplest phrase and sends it, effortlessly, straight to your heart. Ben’s musical tact and flair for arrangement provide the perfect setting, allowing the song centre-stage.

Double BBC Folk Award nominees Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker infuse ageless stories of love and loss with their exquisite command of many instruments.

Thomas Ford

Howling one man blues band Thomas Ford is from the South West of the UK. He has been playing sold out shows at some of Europe’s biggest and best known blues, jazz and roots music festivals for the last 5 years. As a result he’s established a large following nationwide.

His reputation is for superbly original self-penned blues songs, observant, cynical, loaded with humour, innuendo and rooted in delta blues tradition. His virtuoso bottleneck guitar playing and raucous rack-mounted harmonica; are complemented by foot stomped percussion and vocals which are shouted, spat and snarled from an otherwise reserved mouth.
