Stories in the Secret garden

The Story Museum in Oxford is transforming its courtyard to recreate the Secret Garden from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved children’s classic.

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden”.

The Secret Garden has delighted generations of children, many of whom have no doubt dreamt of also uncovering a key to a magical hidden walled garden of their own. Now The Story Museum in Oxford is offering visitors the chance to experience exactly this, by discovering the museum’s very own secret garden.

With the help of a team of expert designers and makers, the museum has transformed part of its courtyard into a beautiful garden paradise. Visitors will be able to join the museum’s Story Guides for an interactive family storytelling sessions, in which they will work together to solve the mystery and uncover the key to unlock a very special garden.

Isy Mead, Learning and Participation manager for The Story Museum says:
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors to our beautiful Secret Garden installation at The Story Museum. Whether you’ve been a life-long fan, or this is your first introduction to Frances Hodgson Burnett’s much-loved novel, this is a lovely way for families to create stories together.”
