If you’re a regular on the Wiltshire music scene, you’ll likely have come across a marauding, flat cap wearing songsmith by the name of Phil Cooper.

For those of you asking yourself “Who?”, Phil is a Westbury based musician who used to be part of locally renowned group The Haiku, and now can be found playing his absolute heart out in venues across the South.

Recently, he has taken the decision to take the plunge into the music industry whole-heartedly and has handed in his notice, quitting his 9-5 job in Trowbridge and heading out on to the road.

What makes Phil special is his never ending ability to churn out impressive and powerful pop tunes in the vein of Crowded House,  Neil Finn, Glenn Tilbrook and Ben Folds, and has had highly successful support slots for Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Dave McPherson (InMe). During his live shows, he makes a real connection with the crowd, often starting and finishing the shows entirely unplugged and shunning the stage to stand right in among the captivated audience.

2014 saw the release of his solo album “Half Live”. Wanting to capture the feel of his live show on a studio recording, Phil recorded two live shows and took them in to the studio to add a few little extras. The result is an album which revels in the rawness of a live concert, but still presents the songs the way Phil hears them in his head!

And now, to celebrate his first step on the road to becoming a fully fledged, full time professional musician, Phil is releasing an EP dubbed ‘The Notice Period’

Phil said:

“At the time of writing this, I have just under 7¬†weeks left of my office job before I take on the life of a full time¬†singer-songwriter.

“The Notice Period EP” will contain 4 brand new songs (all written within my notice period),¬†and will be sent out digitally on Christmas Eve for those that order it before then, or will be available immediately if you order after that. ¬†If you choose one of the physical options (there’s a few¬†special options to choose), your EP artwork will be personalized with your name and how long before the end of my notice period you placed the order. You’ve got until 1st January 2016 (inclusive) to get your order in. After that it will be gone!
“As well as that you’ll regularly be kept up to date along the way with the progress of both the album and the EP.¬†Not only do you get a warm glow of satisfaction that you’re helping me take those first terrifying steps, you also get some very special music to enjoy along the way, and who knows, you might be showing the EP off in years to come to prove¬†your support when I still had a few¬†days left of the nine to five!”
