Shoebox Theatre presents Neil LaBute's 'Autobahn'

After a winter break Shoebox are ready to open their doors again, this time with Neil LaBute’s Autobahn February 24 to 25.

“Hidden in the back seat of a sedan, I quickly realised how deep the chasm or intense the claustrophobia could be inside your average family car.” - Neil LaBute.

The Scullions Neoterics will be performing our new show Autobahn in a tour of the South West which shall be opening in Swindon at the Shoebox Theatre 24 and 25 February at 7pm. Showcasing LaBute’s flair for the dark and sinister, Autobahn puts regular people in extraordinary circumstances. From breakups to kidnappings, and an escape from rehab - the situation is transformed again and again but the setting remains the same – the two front seats of a car. Showing us just how significant a car ride can be.

In this original and thought-provoking adaptation, the Scullions Neoterics will take you on a heartbreaking, hilarious and exhilarating journey. Our Autobahn invites you to take a peek into the lives of 10 different people. 10 people that stretch the width and breadth of British culture. Everyone has something to say, but what isn’t being said? What is really going on under the surface? The Scullions Neoterics invite you to ask these questions in this original and immersive production that brings The Scullions to new and exciting heights in this thought-provoking adaptation.

This will be the debut production for The Scullions Neoterics. They said: “The company is formed as an off-shoot of The Scullions – our Shakespeare focused company that have taken great pleasure in adapting several classics in our own accessible and fast-paced style.

“The Neoterics exists to explore more contemporary theatre, anything from new writing to modern classics. We were extremely excited at the prospect of this new challenge for the company and bringing the show to Swindons Shoebox was a no-brainer seeing how much we had enjoyed the wonderful venue as it previously hosted our Shakespeare epics of ‘Hal and Falstaff’ and ‘Othello’. It was a natural choice to open our new tour.”

Autobahn is being performed at The Shoebox Theatre on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February at 7pm.

Tickets are £10 and can be booked via https://www.shoeboxtheatre.org.uk/whatson
