Bristol-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and visual artist She Makes War has been confirmed for Swindon’s Mfor Festival.
The DIY artist She Makes War, aka Laura Kidd, will be joining Years & Years, Toploader, Ella Eyre and Becky Hill at Lydiard Park’s Mfor Festival, Saturday 27 July.
The culmination of talents from Laura Kidd saw the creation of solo project She Makes War which has seen the artist tour across the UK and Europe supporting the likes of Suede, Gruff Rhys and The Levellers. Now on her fourth album the multi-talented artist centres her work on the ‘liveness’ and physicality of her music, whilst prompting discussions around the artificial elements of technology that infiltrate everyday life.
Speaking about her single ‘Devastate Me’ from her latest album Brace For Impact, Laura said: “It’s about photography as a reflex, the way people overshare online and how when we die our online profiles just stay there. The internet is amazing – I’ve built my career using it, but it can be so awful.”
She Makes War has built a strong name for herself and attracted attention from the likes of 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne and Tom Robinson, BBC Introducing in The West, Louder Than War and Kerrang. The self-made name looks to bring pop-punk edge, a visceral experience and raucous guitar riffs to the stage at Mfor Festival this summer.
