On Saturday 14 January there is the chance to join D’Oyly Carte soloists for Come and Sing The Pirates of Penzance. From the comfort of their seats, the audience will make up the chorus, taking on the roles of pirates, policemen and the Major General’s daughters under the direction of the dynamic and entertaining Ian McMillan.
The company returns following the huge success of Come and Sing HMS Pinafore and this promises to be another unforgettable evening. Suitable for all ages, no experience is necessary for this fun-filled night out.
On Saturday 21 January pianist Lucy Parham and Olivier Award-winning actor Henry Goodman will chronicle the life of composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff in Elegie: Rachmaninoff – A Heart in Exile.
The narrative is scripted from letters and diaries and follows Rachmaninoff from his youth in Russia, through his self-imposed exile, to California. The programme includes many of his best-loved works for solo piano, including the haunting Elegie, as well as works by Scriabin and Tchaikovsky.
Lucy Parham is known internationally for her “Composer Portraits” and Salisbury Playhouse audiences have previously enjoyed celebrations of Liszt, Schumann and Brahms.
