The old running lark is not getting any easier. I’m racking up the miles now and I feel awful. I mentioned a couple of weeks back that it’s kind of turned me into an unresponsive zombie who just grunts and goes around in a bit of a daze. My legs have got up to their old tricks again and are now complaining with every step I take. It’s like someone’s nailed a couple of planks to them as I can’t seem to bend them properly apart from the involuntarily times that my knees give out at any inopportune moment. This stiff-leggedness seems to dog my days now and I’m just waiting for the time that suddenly my legs will find it easier. People say it’s coming but it seems to be a long time getting here. With that in mind, I’ve decided to change my pace somewhat to give my legs a bit of time to get back on track. So I’ve recalibrated my Nike + app so that it’s as if I’m just starting my marathon training now. This means the pace will slow down for the next couple of weeks before ramping back up in about three weeks time. I had a feeling that maybe the app was pushing my body to do things that it’s simply not ready for yet so the change of pace is hopefully going to get me up to the right fitness levels first without killing me. There’s 20 weeks to go now until October 15 when I run the Birmingham Marathon for ICP Support, which isn’t really that long if you think about (which I try not to do!) Anyway, only a short one today being Bank Holiday and all that! (Sorry to be so moany!)
