Rod + Rose Release First Original Christmas Single, ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’

Duo’s Self-Titled EP Slated for 28 January, 2022

Curb Records duo Rod + Rose retell the Christmas story in their first original holiday single, ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb.’ Listen to the sacred anthem HERE.

Written by Rodney Atkins, Rose Falcon, Brandon Hood, and Skip Ewing, the poetic track was produced by Hood and mixed by Jim Cooley. The poignant lyrics, which culminate into a choir-assisted chorus, paint a tender portrait of the first Christmas: “That holy night in Bethlehem. All the angels sang, ‘Mary had a little lamb. Jesus was His name.’”

“When Rodney first came in with this song idea, he said, ‘I have a title. I’ve been saving it for quite some time.’ He had actually been saving it for years. He said, ‘It’s ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb.’ I hesitantly said, ‘Alright,’ and I kinda laughed. But then he explained the idea and how it was about the birth of Christ. I was just totally blown away by it and loved it,” explains Falcon of bringing the seasonal track to life. “It’s a challenge to write a simple song that has that lullaby thing about it, yet it’s about the single most important thing that has ever happened.”

The seemingly childlike lullaby packs a gut-punch when listeners dig into the sweet story it shares. “We just wanted to write a song that we could sing to our 2- and 3-year-old,” Atkins adds, referring to sons Ryder and Scout, whom he shares with Falcon. “We wanted to write something they could get and enjoy and want to sing with us and celebrate the birth of our Savior.”

The couple is poised to drop a second holiday single leading up to Christmas. In the meantime, fans can get a taste of their standout songwriting and signature harmonies on their debut song, ‘Being Here, Being There.’ Watch the official lyric video HERE. The track previews their upcoming self-titled debut EP, releasing 28 Jan, 2022. Pre-Order/Pre-Save Rod + Rose HERE.
