Featuring the sumptuous vocal talents of Beth Nielsen Chapman, Red Sky July have released a Christmas song that can almost literally warm your heart and soul.

(We won’t point out the irony of a group with such a summery name doing a Christmas song if you don’t) Traditional, but not as a UK audience would know it, Save Christmas Day for Me is a symphony of country vocal harmonies, filling any space left in the aural spectrum after the impressive guitar and lap steel is done wowing your subconscious. The track is very much Americana at it’s finest, it wouldn’t be out of place in a Dolly Parton or Willie Nelson set at all, and is fantastically Christmassy whilst maintaining it’s alt-country roots. It ebbs and flows to suck you in, like a cosy fireplace and all those other Christmas stereotypes, but never goes mad and over steps the boundaries into full seasonal hoedown (however much you may/may not enjoy that). Overall, a thoroughly entertaining track, very seasonal and will get a lot of people in the mood for the holiday season (as our US friends would say) with all the warmth of a red sky in July.
