R&B Bar @ Devizes Sports Club - proof that the blues never die

The list of things you can use the Devizes Sports Club for doesn’t end with business conferences and weddings! Unless you are married to the blues, or your business is being a damn fine guitarist.

Supported on the night by Corsham’s very own Blues Cadavers, Mr Amor has been a constant light in the Devizes music crowd since his days as guitarist in The Hoax.

Disorderly Sounds, who book the shows for the R&B Bar, is the brainchild of Mirko Pangrazzi, who is passionate about using the ideal space at the sports club to further the local music scene.

Mirko told The Ocelot: “This space offers me the chance to host those bands that are touring nationally and need the bigger space to really give the best performances.

“I took the opportunity of using the sports club to bring these big names to the town. Elles Bailey for example, she’s a star in the making, one of the best in the country. And she’s come to Devizes before she becomes even bigger on the national stage! It’s brilliant for the town.”

Mirko is also an established luthier, or guitar builder, and his enthusiasm for his craft and his love of music go hand in hand, as do his promotional duties alongside marketing his bespoke instruments. He said: “Yes, the promotion and the gigs help MPL Guitars of course, because we have these brilliant musicians coming to the town, they get to sit in my workshop and play some things, but Devizes has been a music hub since the 60s and keeps drawing in these artists. The sports club is the ideal venue and with the sponsors that we have like Renelec and The Peppermill, we have the chance to be a key venue in the south west.”

Disorderly Sounds will also host the incredible DVL, paying tribute to the music of Lester Butler and the Red Devils on November 12.
