Pete Coe: The Stories So Far

Pete Coe tells his stories so far Saturday 07 April at Arlington Arts Centre, Newbury.

Pete Coe celebrates narrative folk songs, rooted in English traditions, classic ballads and broadsides, rural yarns, travellers tales, songs of love, loss & protest, learned from the old songcarriers & songsmiths he’s met over a lifetime on the road.  He performs with great skill, presents with authority & good humour & encourages audience involvement. In 2016 he was awarded a Gold Badge by English Folk Dance & Song Society for outstanding services to English folk music.

His new CD The Man in the Red Van has been played on national & local folk radio programmes and has gathered excellent reviews in the folk press.

Colin Irwin of fROOTS, said: “Pete Coe, urbane multi-instrumentalist, reassuringly composed singer, reliable assembler of stimulating material, and consistently fine recording artist.”

In The Guardian, Robin Denselow said: “He’s an impressive singer, songwriter, and a multi-instrumentalist who switches from bouzouki to melodeon, banjo, dulcimer and “feet” (he’s a good, percussive dancer), and can handle anything from traditional ballads to comic material.”

Tickets are available for £12 online at www.arlingtonarts.co.uk, or by calling the Box Office at 01635 244246.
