Come rain or shine the fun doesn’t stop at the New Theatre Oxford this summer.

The George Street venue is running a series of workshops for youngsters during August which will appeal to anyone interested in theatre – whether they want to tread the boards or stay behind the scenes.

The four workshops will cover a whole range of aspects of the theatre from special effects to technical elements, and stage make up to performing.

Special effects make-up workshop – August 16 at 11am (ages 12+) £15

Find out the secret behind creating realistic looking effects for stage. The session will include make-up demonstrations of cuts, wounds and bruises amongst others, as well as showing off special effects techniques.

Theatrical stage make-up workshop – August 16 at 2pm (ages 12+) £20

An introduction to theatrical stage make-up. The workshop will look at creating the perfect look for the stage, contouring, highlighting, theatrical eye and lip application and much more.

Technical theatre workshop – August 21 at 10am and 3pm (ages 12+) £25

Join our technical team for a 4 hour workshop looking at all the practical elements of the theatre. Go behind the scenes and learn about lighting, rigging, sound and much more. All of the key technical areas of the venue will be covered in this informative, fun and practical session.

Musical theatre workshop – August 22 at 11am – 1pm (5 – 10-year-olds) and 4pm – 4pm (11 – 15-year-olds) £10

A fun-filled workshop based around singing, dance and drama. The session will involve learning a song and dance routine, as well as a scripted scene from a current musical. Then it’s time to take to the New Theatre’s stage and perform your own short performance as a group.
