Multi-talented troubadour Daniel Romano returns to Oxford

In turns country troubadour, art rocker, louche pop singer and punk, Daniel Romano is impossible to categorise and even harder to ignore.

Hailing from Ontario Canada, Romano has been immersed in music all his life, first taking to the stage at the age of just 8 as the drummer in his family’s rhythm & blues band. Since then he’s released six albums as a solo artist, playing all the instruments himself and picking up several award nominations along the way.

Pushing at the boundaries once again with a new album, Modern Pressure, Romano is bringing his idiosyncratic style back to Oxford with a show at the Bullingdon on 31 August.

Hot on the heels of 2016’s ‘Mosey’, Romano uses the 12 songs on Modern Pressure to once again explore new territory. Noisey praises the tracks on his latest offering as “pertinent and timeless…combining elements of retro-tinged rock’n’roll, country, and psychedelia to create a vibrant tapestry of tunes that feel just as at home in 2017 as they might in 1965”, while The Line of Best Fit is captivated by his ability to “take us to some weird and wonderful places”.

Back in the country to appear at the End of the Road festival, this is Daniel Romano’s only other UK date until he returns for a full tour in November. Don’t miss this chance to see the new material from one of Canada’s finest, performed for the very first time on this side of the pond.

See Daniel Romano at the Bullingdon, Oxford on Thursday 31 August. Doors open at 7:30pm. Buy advance tickets here, at Truck Store Oxford or Rapture Witney. Tickets cost £12.
