Mandolinquents return to Arlington Arts with special guests!

Popular Arlington Arts performers, Mandolinquents return on Friday 2 February 2018 with some very special guests.

Another magical night music and humour from our fun-filled foursome:  If you’ve seen them here before or heard them on BBC’s Friday is Music Night or In Tune you’ll know just what a treat is in store. Fantastic fun with a unique mix of classical showstoppers, beautifully sung folk ballads, 1930s hot swing fiddle, tangos, and bluegrass banjo party-pieces – not to mention sparkling Mayor mandolin originals…and yes, Hilary’s mandobass is real! A great evening is guaranteed. This time they are joined by Elias Sibley and Florence Petit.

Elias and Florence absolutely wowed the audience here at the Arlington last year.

In case you missed them Elias is one of the finest finger-style ukulele players of his generation as well as a superb classical guitarist and banjo player. He combines the ukulele’s traditional characteristics with the guitar’s qualities as a solo instrument.

From Bach to the great American songbook Elias takes the ukulele to a new and exciting dimension. He also brings some fine guitar fingerwork to accompaniments to the cello, mandolin and voice….and not forgetting Elias’s love for the classical banjo - taking ragtime to a new dimension.

Florence is an innovative and exciting young Franco-British musician with a warm, engaging stage manner. The recipient of a diverse host of awards and in demand as a soloist. She also tours with Elias in the Duo Dekacord and with her baroque ensemble, Improviso but has managed to squeeze in an evening to play once more at the Arlington.

Tickets are available for £14 online at www.arlingtonarts.co.uk, or by calling the Box Office at 01635 244246.

All profits from Arlington Arts Centre go directly to Mary Hare, a school and national charity supporting deaf children.
